About Seth Klarman & Baupost Group
The Baupost Group is a Boston-based value manager founded in 1982 and led by Seth Klarman, whose out-of-print book "Margin of Safety" became a cult classic among value investors. Klarman is known for a disciplined, risk-first philosophy and a willingness to hold large cash balances when opportunities are scarce.
Baupost's 13F often features deeply out-of-favor equities, special situations and distressed securities. The firm's public equity holdings represent only part of its strategy, which also spans private investments, real estate and credit.
